The cosmetic and therapeutic properties of milk are known since ancient times. Queen Cleopatra used to immerse herself in it completely to maintain her beauty and preserve her glowy skin. In her case the story tells that not less than seven hundred donkeys produced the milk for her daily baths. Even Poppea, second wife of roman emperor Nerone, loved and used to enjoy this ritual.

The famous greek doctor Teofrasto recommended to sponge or wash inflamed skin with it, as he understood that the probiotics contained in whey were responsible for the restoration of skin’s natural acidity; and so he began to use it for inflamations and bacterical infections.
Today whey still has these properties and it’s used to produce high-end cosmetics and to treat various skin diseases.

Why it’s so effective in keeping the skin healthy
Whey is the liquid part of milk that is separated from the solid curds during the process of cheesemaking. Unlike milk, whey contains only a small percentage of fats but it’s rich in branched chain amminoacids, B group vitamins, calcium, potassium, phosphorus and iodine. In addition to that it contains immunoglobulins, that boosts the immune system, and bioactive proteins like lactoferrin, also found in breast milk.
Its unique composition makes it a potent antioxidant that also has anti-inflamatory and hydrating properties. Its acidity balances the skin’s natural PH and promotes the regeneration of the protective acid mantle.

ANTIOXIDANT PROPERTIES
It boosts the production of Glutathione. The chemical structure, composed of three amino acids, makes it one of the most potent antioxidants in the human body as it fights free radicals and protects skin proteins and other oxidising chemical compounds.
HYDRATING PROPERTIES
Its components hydrate and nourish the skin, as a matter of fact they have the property of retaining water and actives on the skin producing an hydrolipidic film that acts as a barrier and stops water evaporation.
PROTECTIVE PROPERTIES
The PH regulation property promotes the regeneration of the skin’s acid mantle, restoring its natural difenses against germs and external agents. Furthermore whey’s antimicrobial properties are an incredible ally against breakouts (acne or pimples).
ELASTICIZING PROPERTIES
The amino acids contained in whey proteins strenghten skin’s collagen fibers, help maintain elasticity and firmness and, at the same time, brighten and reinvigorate the skin surface.

The raw material we use is whey that comes exclusively from the highly controlled production of Parmigiano Reggiano, considered to be an Italian excellence. Parmigiano Reggiano is a cheese with unique characteristics, mainly because of the geographic area where it’s produced. It distinguishes itself for the deep bond with the environment and from there comes its peculiarity.
Nothing’s left to chance when it comes to feeding the animals (a practice that’s strictly regulated and forbids the use of ensiled fodders or fermented foods) and controlling the milk transformation to keep the quality high and the cheese’s unique characteristics intact.

We salvage and repurpose a waste product, we don’t use water and we advocate for a circular economy and minimal environmental impact.
Made in Italy
The whole production is based in Italy. We use whey coming from the Parmigiano Reggiano production.
No animal testing
We only use raw materials with certified origin and not tested on animals.

A one-of-a-kind formula
Our laboratories have designed a unique formula and also a unique way to make whey available in liquid form in our products. This gives us the possibility to preserve most of whey’s beneficial properties that otherwise would have been lost in a freeze-drying process. Furthermore we totally eliminated production water substituting it with whey and ensuring a high concentration of it. And in this way, salvaging and repurposing what was a waste product, we can have a minimal envrironmental impact, without any waste of water.
